Jovoy Paris a chic perfume line that was founded in 1923, and resurrected in 2006. With Jovoy’s resurrection came Les 7 Parfums Capitaux. Developed by perfumer Amandine Marie, each creation is inspired by a main fragrance classification: Hespéridé, Fougère, Chypre, Marine, Poudré, Oriental and Boisé.
Hespéridé: Inspired by the citrus family, with notes of mandarin, citron, bergamot, jasmine, violet, cedar, vetiver and white musk.
Fougère: Inspired by the fern family, with notes of basil, citron vert, pineapple, geranium, neroli, sandalwood, tonka bean and moss.
Chypre: Inspired by the chypre family, with notes of rose, peony, jasmine, lily of the valley, honey, amber, vetiver and patchouli.
Marine: Inspired by the marine family, with notes of pepper, pear, grapefruit, apple, watermelon, cedar and musk.
Poudré: Inspired by the powder family, with notes of mimosa, almond, violet, iris, rose, vanilla and cedar.
Oriental: Inspired by the oriental family, with notes of pink pepper, bergamot, peach, rose, vanilla, cedar and amber.
Boisé: Inspired by the woods family, with notes of freesia, cumin, red cedar, violet, sandalwood, musk and palisander wood.
Wear these perfumes singularly, or layer them for a customized scent experience. Inspired by all things masculine as of late, I can’t stop wearing Fougère and Boisé together. The overall effect reminds me of my dad, and his penchant for classic, uncomplicated scents.
